How to Solve the Noise Problem of Harmonic Speed Reducer?

With the development and demand of the industry, the transmission error of the harmonic reducer is getting bigger and bigger, and the requirements for noise control of the harmonic reducer are getting higher and higher. There are many factors that affect the noise of the harmonic reducer, such as the tooth profile design of the internal and external gears, gear processing accuracy, assembly accuracy, use, maintenance and installation of the reducer.

1. The tooth profile design of the internal and external meshing gears of the harmonic speed reducer

The noise of the harmonic speed reducer is mainly caused by the friction, vibration and collision of the transmission gear. In the design, by optimizing the gear’s modulus, tooth height, modulus, pressure angle, center distance and other parameters, the meshing speed and meshing effect are reduced. Design methods that reduce or avoid the gear meshing effect can reduce the noise of the gear reducer.

2. Gear processing accuracy of harmonic speed reducer

The hard tooth surface obtained by carburizing, nitriding, and carbonitriding processes deforms the gear, increases the noise of the gear transmission, and shortens the service life of the gear. In order to reduce the noise of the harmonic reducer, the surface of the tooth needs to be trimmed. In order to reduce the noise of the harmonic reducer, gear grinding and shape modification methods are used to reduce the influence of the gear inlet and outlet.

3. Assembly accuracy of harmonic speed reducer: reducer

(1) The reducer assembly is not concentric, resulting in unbalanced transmission shaft, internal gear meshing half loose and half tight, making noise.

(2) The clearance of the internal gear assembly of the harmonic reducer is small, and the noise will be slightly louder.

(3) If there is too much oil and grease in the harmonic reducer, the noise will be slightly louder.

4. Use and maintenance of harmonic speed reducer

(1) Different installation of harmonic reducer and equipment will cause noise.

It is not like a spur gear that suddenly drives contact along the tooth width and suddenly disengages, but gradually enters into engagement and separation.
